Össur, a global leader in prosthetic and orthopedic solutions, aimed to modernize the ordering process for custom knee braces, prosthetic sockets, and liners. The company needed to enhance two key mobile applications:
SmartMeasure – A step-by-step guide for doctors to select, measure, and order knee braces.
Össur Custom Solutions – A platform supporting the digital ordering of custom prosthetic sockets and liners, integrating a 3D scanning system for precise measurements.
Previously, clinicians relied on manual casting methods, requiring physical molds to be shipped to Össur’s facilities. This process was time-consuming, expensive, and prone to inaccuracies.
The new digital solution needed to facilitate real-time prosthetic and orthotic order placement; integrate 3D scanning for precise transtibial limb measurements; support offline functionality for clinics with unreliable connectivity; and ensure seamless data migration between app versions.
Össur partnered with Itera, a Norwegian software company, which engaged our iOS development experts to refine and enhance their mobile applications.
